I'm blessed to lead a new group in a new yoga practice. The Antioch Church in Lansing will be coming to the YMCA February 27th and part of their program will include a yoga class.
The women of Antioch Church have a once a year program developing and enriching the lives of young women in the community.
I'll be talking on the development of a yoga practice as an expansion of their physical exercise. And I'll be teaching a class.
From a christian perspective, I've heard that Christians cannot and/or should not practice yoga. I've heard that a christian participating in yoga is akin to praying to other gods.
I have no scientific facts and hard core absolutes. Other than Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it the world, and all who live in it.
It is up to everyone's individual confession of faith and then their daily faith walk as to which god to bow before.
I defer to Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
I'll be talking about and teaching the soul/body connection through Christ in yoga. About treating "our temples" that house the Holy Spirit balanced and flexible. About meditating through a yoga practice on the Scriptures that calls forth the presence of God, deepening the faith walk.
I'm always happy and blessed to share the Word in a yoga practice. Tomorrow, I'll be doubly happy to dispel a mis-perceived notion that Christians cannot practice yoga.
So go in peace, be in peace
John 20:20-22 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
God Bless
